Tejinder Chauhan, a farmer from Punjab, sold his agricultural land in 2011 and started creating Ravan effigy. He began from 175 feet in 2011 gradually increasing it to 185 feet in 2013 and 210 feet in 2016 with the effigy to be made of same height this year as well.

Tejinder Chauhan says no facility is available to extend the height, therefore, has to stop at 210. The height of Ravan is increasing in proportion to the increasing crimes in the world. If we go higher, we won’t find any more machine or man to hold it upright so; we stopped there.

With 7 tons of bamboo, 2 ton of gum, 6 ton of paper and cloth and 20 quintals of iron frame, the Ravan effigy is being designed at the cost of Rs 30 lakh.

The Effigy of Ravan will be displayed four days before Dussehra. The festival is on 19th October, but the effigy will be displayed from 15th October.

From August onwards, there is a difference of opinion between the Indian government and WhatsApp regarding the fake news. The Indian government had asked to allow the Tracking of Messages from WhatsApp. But Facebook-owned company denied doing so due to privacy.

After refusing the electronics and IT, ministries are preparing to send another official letter to the company. Through this letter, the government will alert the company that if it does not fulfil the demand of the government, then the WhatsApp could be banned in the country. This will be the third official letter from July to date.

Fake News and rumours spread through WhatsApp, have been exposed to incidents like lynching. Chris Daniel, CEO of WhatsApp, had met Union Information and Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad sometime ago in Delhi. The government was transparent and want some stable steps by messaging App which should stop the spreading of fake news.

The government had laid down three conditions.

  1. Fake news and rumours should be stopped on WhatsApp and effective solution for this.
  2. To make the office to work in India.
  3.  Find technical solutions for the origination of fake messaging and appoint officials for the complaint settlement.

Considering these demands of the government, Facebook-owned Company has made many other changes so that there are no fraudulent reports. WhatsApp has limited sending out a forwarded message to just five which previously was 250.

WhatsApp also let us know which is forwarded message as well, but the government isn’t satisfied. The government says that if WhatsApp doesn’t want to compromise its message encryption, then they have to give another technical instrument.

WhatsApp has 1.5 billion active users in India and India is its biggest market. The company is also thinking of bringing some new services like payment platforms and advertisers for service.

Just days after Pranay and Amrutha case, another severe issue of caste violence happened in Hyderabad. Another inter-caste couple was attacked by women’s father in broad daylight in Hyderabad on September 19.

The incident took place around 03:30 Pm on a busy road in Hyderabad’s Erragada main road. The girl’s father, Manohar Chari called up her daughter and said he was missing his daughter very much and asked to meet.

The Couple B Sandeep, 22, and Madhavi Chary, 20 reached the location and were waiting on the bike for the women’s father to arrive. A man came parked his bike next to them. The man can be seen getting down from the bike, removing the helmet and pulls out a sickle from his bag. Later he attacked the man sitting on a motorcycle with his wife. First, he ruthlessly attacked his Son in law and then his Daughter.

As other bystanders attempt to intervene, the attacker threatens them with his sickle before slashing the woman again. At one point, a bystander kicks the attacker, who then walks out of the frame, as the young woman sits up. All this can be seen on the CCTV footage, which is very much disturbing.

The couple got married on Sept 12th and were in a relationship from last five years.
