#MeToo India: Another Allegation On Subhash Ghai By A Journalist

Since the Tanushree Dutta spoke out about harassment on Nana Patekar, which initially started India own MeToo movement. After that women came out can speak about what they have faced. Several stand up comedians, as well as names from Bollywood came out. After one severe allegation on film director Subhash Ghai of drugging and raping former employee. This is about Subhash Ghai, the man with an ultimate filmography. A few months back, when I got the opportunity to interview him, I grabbed the chance. At first, the interview was supposed to happen at a hotel room. Thankfully, it got shifted to a breakfast chat.

The man showed more interest in knowing my background. I was fine until he asked me about having a boyfriend, the number of boyfriends I’ve had if my family knows about it and how getting physical in a relationship was very normal today.

The topic of the interview was Osho. As we spoke about his work on the subject, the conversation drifted to more about sexual content, which made me extremely uncomfortable. It was too much to bear for me when he began clicking my photo on his phone despite me telling him “sir, I’m not comfortable, please don’t.”

He told me – “aren’t we friends now?” And I had no answer. I kept saying – “But sir, I’m not comfortable with you clicking my photos.” He continued: He clicked photos and even showed those photos to me.

Then he asked a waiter to click a photo of us together. I still wasn’t okay with it. I asked him to use my phone instead. He denied. He said he has a better phone and a camera. I was waiting for an escape but froze because I couldn’t believe and act according to the situation. Later, just for courtesy (which I do after every interview), I dropped him a text message thanking him for his time, and he replied – “I’m in Delhi for tomorrow and day after, come visit me anytime.”

That freaked me out. A) I was there for work. B) I was so shocked at his reply that I couldn’t give it back to him at that time, an appropriate response. I did say no which went unheard. When I shared it with my colleagues, they were furious, but I was numb. I did not know how to react to all that happened for many days. I shared my experience to encourage more people who have faced similar stuff in the hands of Subhash Ghai or anyone else, to come forward and tell your story. This is to give them the courage that they aren’t alone!

One of the Bollywood legendary filmmakers, Subhash Ghai, has accused a woman of rape. Mahima Kukreja, a woman who accused of sexually assaulting Utsav Chakravarti on the Kamadeyan festival, shared screenshots of conversation with the victim. The victim shared the entire incident with her.

The woman said:

‘It all happened when I was working in a film with Subhash Ghai. He told me that he would guide me and move forward. There was no godfather or friend in my industry, so I said to them. In the beginning, he used to take me to the recording studio where I had to sit down with many male members for late night. Later one day, he slowly kept his hand on my thigh and embraced me and said that I had done a great job.

Then he started calling me for a script session in his small apartment located in Lokhandwala. He used to say that he used to read scripts along with other actresses there too. When I arrived there, he was alone. His wife did not live there.

Instead of the script, he began to tell me how they all misunderstood in the industry, and I am the one who likes them. He started pretending to cry and put his head in my lap. When he was getting up, he forcefully kissed me. I told only two more girls about this, along with whom Subhash Ghai had behaved like this.

One evening it was late after music session Subhash Ghai decided to take a drink. There is always a drink in his car. He gave me a spiked drink, and I thought he is dropping me home. But he asked driver Babu to take us to Lonavla. I was getting into the senses. Whenever the senses come, I will ask where we are going and leave me the house.

He took me to the Fariyas hotel. Where he often go to write, and they have a suite ready for him. I was wobbly, but he held me and took me to the suite. He took off my jeans, and he mounted me. I was trying to scream, but he put his hand on my mouth and was also not very lucid because of the drug in my drink. I cried, and then I lost consciousness. Next morning when I wake up, he had toast. The couch had red marks, and it was scattered. Sunlight screamed at me, and I got vomited.

Subhash Ghai dropped me home. I didn’t go office for the next few days only to receive a call that if I quit now, I’ll not get the salary. Worked for one more week, left after that and never seen him after that.


Subhash Ghai denied charges:

Talking to PTI, Subhash Ghai denied all these allegations. He said — It is unfortunate that the name of one another is being defamed by sharing the old and baseless stories on social media. I completely reject all the allegations.

“The first time I interviewed Sajid Khan in the early 2000s, he called me to his house he shared with his sister. Thru the interview, he talked about how large his p**** is & how he knew how to satisfy a woman.

I ignored his trash talk & got back on track w/ my interview. He walked out of the room to show me some DVD from his collection. When he returned, his p**** was out. I got up to leave immediately only to find him blocking the way out.

And, he forced his tongue down my throat. I pushed him away, ran out, cried all the way on the train from Vile Parle to VT. I got back to my office and wrote his interview because that was my job. 

A few years later, I had to work with Sajid when I was at MTV. Initially, I wanted to find a way to not work on that show. Then I realised, why should I let go of an opportunity because a man can’t keep his d*** in his pants.

At the end of the first meeting, I forewarned him about behaving himself. I’ll never forget what he said to me “You are fatter than you used to be. I won’t touch you with a barge pole.” And then he laughed.”

Now, a woman has accused Piyush Mishra.

A former newspaper staffer Ketki Joshi in a Facebook post came against Piyush Mishra. In 2014 she met him as a fan in a party where Piyush Mishra was invited as a chief guest.

He then started light flirting in front of approximately 20-25 people, sang a song looking right into my eyes. Everything was pleasant until then. I took it as harmless flirting. He was drinking all through the party and was too drunk by the time of wrap up

He grabbed her hand and started rubbing his hand against her.

I pleaded to the host with my eyes to do something. She understood and told, “Ketki, come and help me bring the things from the terrace.

And did the same again:

As I was making another round to terrace, he again grabbed my hand and started rubbing it. I stood there waiting for someone to come n take him to his car. He suddenly stood up and took a step towards me. I sensed he was coming to hug me or grope me. I told in an authoritative raised voice, “Aap please baith jaaiye”. The others listened to it and quickly came there and took me away

Piyush Mishra in his response said that he had read the allegations made about him which are forwarded to him by a few journalists.

“I do not remember the stated incident as I was probably a few drinks down. But nevertheless I would like to extend my apology for making the lady uncomfortable either with my words or actions,”— Mishra told PTI

With several actresses, crew members, writers and other professionals of the film fraternity spoke against harassment they have faced. The Major name came out from Bollywood are Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl and Nana Patekar who are facing massive accusations against them and hence an organisation like FWICE [Federation of Western Cine Employees] has decided to boycott these celebrities as of now.

FWICE Chief Advisor Ashok Pandit recently spoke to reports on the matter wherein he stated that they will not be working with the three celebrities. We will be maintaining this stand because they don’t want anyone to misuse power in a wrong manner.

FWICE also said they will not be following these allegations blindly and will send notice to the opposition and are expected to respond. Failing to do so none of the workers from FWICE will be working with them.

After the number of comedians, another comedian Kaneez Surka had accused comedian Aditi Mittal of sexually harassing her when she hosted a comedy show at Andheri Base two years ago.

Aditi Mittal posted a long note on twitter explaining her side of the story and how Kaneez has asked her for a public apology only now so she could find closure — and apologising as well.

Aditi clarified in stating that the kiss was part of the act and was meant as a joke. She also wrote that unlike what Kaneez had accused her of, she did not use her tongue to kiss her.

I need to tell my story as it happened to me. Two years ago, at a comedy show I was hosting at Andheri Base, in the presence of an audience of 100 and many comedians, Aditi Mittal walked up on stage and forcefully kissed me on my mouth out of the blue and put her tongue in my mouth, while I was still on stage and without my consent.

Seeing her name all over Twitter as a champion of the cause has been triggering me immensely. Out of my belief that the opportunity to reform is the only way forward, yesterday, once again, I spoke to her through a mutual friend and requested her to come out with a public apology and save me the pain of having to reveal my identity.

India’s MeToo movement is taking a few of the big names. Serious allegations are coming out from last few days. From Comedians, Journalist, Bollywood MeToo is growing. Few days Alok Nath was not just accused of sexual harassment but also rape by Vinita Nanda. A day after allegations were made on Alok Nath he said — Neither I’m denying nor do I would agree with it. It (rape)must happen, but someone else would have done it.

Sandhya Mridul came out in support of Vinita Nanda. She shared an incident of initial days of her career. In a three page long in Twitter, she narrated her story.

At the start of her career, she went to Kodaikanal to shoot a telefilm with Alok Nath and Reema Lagoo who had to play her father and mother respectively. And, while shooting for the same, the actor got drunk and misbehaved with her. While having dinner one day, he forced her to sit with him and kept saying “she is mine”. The actress also revealed that during the shoot of the telefilm, one night he forcibly entered her room and tried to grab her and forced himself on her.
