Sabita was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Sabita, who delivered a baby through the caesarian section on October 13th was in desperate need of blood due to her condition deteriorated rapidly due to excessive blood loss.
Her blood group was found to be ‘Bombay A+ve’ — an extremely rare blood group. Her family members contacted the various blood bank to arrange the rare blood type but failed. After searching several places a blood bank doctor came to know about Dilip, who has same rare group.

Plastic is one of the most dangerous and threatening wastes for animals. Often animals eat plastic waste which stuck in their digestive system and leads to their death. One such similar and shocking instances happened in Tamil Nadu.
In Chennai, P. Munirathanam visited the Veterinary and Animal Sciences University with his ill cow who delivered calf just 20 days ago. He informed vets about the cow’s situation. Munirathanam said cow often kicks in stomach and yields only 3 liters milk a day. He also complained about cow’s difficulty it faced in passing stool and urine.
Vets examined the cow and after a few tests, they found out that the digestive system is covered with plastic waste.
P. Selvaraj, the Professor of Veterinary Clinical Medicine — “We could feel the presence of plastics even during a manual rectal examination. Plastics waste could have accumulated in the rumen over a period of two years.”
“We conducted an x-ray and followed it up with an ultrasound scan and found that plastics occupied 75% of the rumen, one of the four chambers of the cow’s stomach.”
Once the diagnosis was clear, we decided to perform a procedure to remove the accumulated plastics waste. The surgery started at 11:30 am and went on for five hours till 04:30 pm. 52 kgs of plastic was removed from the cow’s belly.
Assistant professor of surgery A. Velavan, a vet from the team who performed the surgery said — “It was a long and complicated surgery. Since the wastes were attached to the walls of the rumen, we had to be very careful that we do not damage the wall.”
A few pins and needles were also found in the waste removed from the cow’s body. Another surgeon R. Sivasankar said — “In some cases, the needle could prove dangerous to the animal as it could move to the heart.”
The cow is currently undergoing treatment in Vepery and would soon be on its way to recovery.
According to the doctors, it took about two years for all that plastic to accumulate.
“It exemplifies the threat to animals posed by plastics discarded indiscriminately by the public. Even though we have removed plastics from cows in the past, the quantity this time — 52 kg — is unprecedented,” said S. Balasubramanian, Director, Clinics at TANUVAS.

In the Global Hunger Index, India is ranked 102 behind the neighbor nation in the list of 117 countries. From 0 to 100 points where 0 is the best and 100 the worst. India gets 30.3 and is ranked behind Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
“With a score of 30.3, India suffers from a level of hunger that is serious,” the report says.
India was ranked 55 in the report in 2014 when the total countries were 100. Since then the countries varies but India ranks kept decreasing in the index. In 2017, India was 100 out of 119 countries, and 103 out of 119 countries in 2018. This year it is 102 out of 117.
The most frightening thing is that if you remove 8 states from India (5 south Indian states, Maharashtra, Punjab and Bengal) then India’s ranking goes to 117. The most lowest.
The Global Hunger Index calculates the levels of hunger and undernutrition worldwide. The four indicators for the index are undernourishment, child stunting, child wasting and child mortality.
There is an improvement in India’s point which is decreasing. India’s score was 38.8 in 2000, and 32 in 2010 but decreased just 1.7 in the next 9 years. In India, child wasting is at the highest rate compared to any country at 20.8% while Child stunting is at 37.9%.
In India, just 9.6 percent of all children between 6 and 23 months of age are fed a minimum acceptable diet, the report said
Bangladesh at 88, Nepal at 73 and Pakistan at 94 in this year’s GHI report. As per the report, Bangladesh has done stunning progress in GHI. India scores 30.3 which means suffering from hunger is a serious concern in the country.
India is on the brinks of the win against South Africa in the 2nd test match going on in Pune. South Africa is 7 wickets down and still trail by 170 runs. India will take a lead of 2-0 and will wrap up the series with a test remaining. India’s keeper Wriddhiman Saha is currently the talk of the town.
Saha might be not getting enough opportunities of late but in the two tests against proteas he has proved himself. His keeping skills have impressed everyone and his catches have amazed all.
He first took a one-hand stunner to dismiss De Bruyn. Umesh Yadav delivery went to the leg side and Bruyn edge it. Saha with a full-stretch dive to his left grabbed a stunner.
Next was Skipper Du Plessis. Which looked like a pretty simple catch, Saha juggled the ball multiple times before diving forward to complete the catch.
Superman Saha! He just might bring pure wicketkeeping back into vogue. Down the legside, one-handed and he makes it look easy. Such a joy to watch him behind the wickets. pic.twitter.com/jAE8vRcd5N
College life creates memories and also a future path. The immaturity at that stage leads to some really stupid thoughts. A DU student who bunked the class went a step ahead and planned her own kidnap as she was feared being caught by her parents.
Everyone has surely bunked classes and everyone is feared of getting caught and we have some excuses ready but this first year Delhi University correspondence girl has some threatening ideas.
This all began when her father almost caught her bunking the class, then she planned her own kidnapping and sent a video to her father a video where her hands and legs were tied up and she shouts “Mujhe Chor Do.” After seeing the video her father immediately went to the nearest Police station.
The DCP (North West) Vijayanta Arya, said:
“A case under IPC section 365 (kidnapping) was registered and the girl’s phone was put on technical surveillance. Teams were formed to look for her. On Monday, her parents received a call from a passerby in Old Delhi’s Ballimaran that their daughter was crying on the street. She had asked the man to call them.”
All this started when her father called her during college hours. She said that she is outside the college then her dad video called her and asked her to show the college building. The situation gets tensed and the girl makes up a cooked story. She then stopped taking parents call and spend a night at a friend’s home.
When she came backed home, Police started questioning her. She said, four-five men, kidnapped her and took her to the jungle. She couldn’t point out the location and the cooked up story exposed.
DCP Said:
“She couldn’t point out the location and said that at night when the men slept off, she escaped. When she was prodded a bit more, she confessed that she had made up the story as she bunked college”
According to the police, she left home to go to college but went to Purana Qila with friends. When her father called her she cooked up the whole story to escape her dad’s scolding.
