La Liga Wants To Move El Clasico From Barcelona To Real Madrid Amid Protests

The first El Clasico is just days away and due to play in Barcelona’s home Camp Nou. The ongoing proteas and political tension have set La Liga worried. La Liga has requested Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to shift the game from Camp Nou to Real Madrid’s home Santiago Bernabeu.

If this happens, the reverse fixture on March 1st, 2020, can be played in Camp Nou.

On Monday, Spain’s Supreme Court imprisoned nine Catalan separatist leaders for their role in the 2017 independence referendum has prompted angry protests across Barcelona this week.

Real Madrid has rejected La Liga’s decision to reverse the venue.  However, Los Blancos are ready for the rescheduling of the fixture looking at the seriousness of the situation. Madrid will not accept the game moved away from Comp Nou.

Barcelona also has rejected the proposed idea by La Liga and will play only at Camp Nou.

Not only this, the Catalan club is due to play this weekend away to Eibar and the proteas and tensions are also affecting Barcelona 550 km trip to Eibar as the club is looking for options for travelling.
