Online food delivery apps do provide a doorstep service, but with a huge risk, that’s for sure. Recently, a few issues from Zomato came into light. And now, here we are, Swiggy does the same.

Swiggy

Previously, a Zomato delivery guy opened the packet and ate food again sealed packed and delivered. Later, Plastic fibre was found in a Paneer curry. Now, a Chennai man named Balamurugan Deenadayalan, had one of the most bizarre experience while ordering food which will surely restrict him from ordering again using the delivery apps.

On Sunday, he ordered Chicken Schezwan Chopsuey from Chop N Stix using Swiggy. Everything was well and good until he received his food. As he started eating and ate almost half of the food he was in the state of shock to find a blood-stained bandage in the food.

Swiggy

After finding such disturbing things in the food item, he tried to contact the restaurant to register his complaint but, they didn’t provide him with proper guidance. Then, Deenadayalan contacted Swiggy’s customer care who didn’t respond to him on the chat. As he finds himself helpless, he then went on to the Facebook page of food delivering app and posted his complaint there.

Along with his complaint he also posted images of food with the blood-stained bandage. He even shared the chat photos where he receive a proper response from the customer support team.

In their official statement over the entire incident, Swiggy wrote:

“We understand that consumers trust Swiggy with their health and safety, and are committed to working with restaurants to ensure that only hygienic and quality food is delivered to them.

We deeply regret the issue faced by one of our users and apologise for the angst it has caused. This is certainly not the level of service we intend to promote. While the restaurant has acknowledged a lapse at its end, based on the complaint. We have suspended this outlet pending further investigation by an external agency. Swiggy conducts stringent third-party hygiene audits across our restaurant partner network- regularly, and is invested in working with them to ensure a safe and delightful food experience for our consumers.”
