Rishabh Pant who was 12th man in 1st two tests finally included in the playing XI for the third test. He did not take much time to get noticed in the match, on the second ball he faced Pant opened his account by scoring six. The only Indian batsman to do it and 12th in the world. While batting he may have only made 24, but he looked confident. Although playing his debut inning in English condition is a tough job specially in red ball cricket.
When India came out to bowl, Delhi boy had a tough job to do behind the wickets, which could have made his life tough if he’s nervous. But, like batting, he creates a record with keeping as well. He became the 4th Indian after Naren Tamhane, Kiran More, Naman Ojha and took five catches in debut behind the wickets. The catches were not the regulation one and were even better one after other.
He is playing his only red ball test, and this could be very early to make any sorts of comment on debutante. But, this young guy looks promising for India in long formats. He had a huge carrier ahead of him only if he can establish him as number one keeper batsman. His aggressive is also an advantage which India needed apart from Hardik Pandy in the lower middle order.
His keeping talent looks like which India was missing since the MS Dhoni retired from the test format. He was to the mark behind the wickets. His age is just 20 which is a huge advantage. If not suddenly, slowly he’ll establish himself as one of the permanent test squad members for Indian Cricket.
