FIFA WC 2018: Group Stage Fixture Which You Should Watch

Football World Cup 2018 is not far away. Just a few more days for the biggest festival of Football. Total of 32 teams is separated into eight groups that will be participating in World Cup 2018 due to happen in Russia this summer.

The tournament will begin on 14th June where host Russia will be playing against Saudi Arabia. The competition will continue month-long and final of the World Cup will take place on the 15th of July.

With the group level fixtures already set, we look forward to some of the mouth-watering clash, which can also decide the further stage of the tournament. Here we look for top group stage fixtures which should not be missed.

10. Germany Vs Mexico

The last meeting between these two teams was a year ago in the semi-final of FIFA Confederations Cup where Germany beat Mexico 4 – 1 and then went on to become champions in the tournament. Now these two with be playing together in group stage fixture of FIFA World Cup group stage

9. Brazil Vs Switzerland

These two have played just once in any of the Competitions that to about 70 years ago in World Cup game. Since then several friendly fixtures were played with the last one around five years ago. With Neymar back with Brazil after recovering from his injury already made Brazil super strong, whereas, on the other hand, Switzerland will want to start their World Cup on a winning note.

8. Argentina Vs Iceland

Iceland playing World Cup for the first time and the smallest nation to qualify for the World Cup want to start their tournament on a high note, whereas the other side is the last World Cup silver medalist who is still waiting to touch the trophy from last 32 years. With Leo Messi probably playing his last world cup, he desperately wants a good start to the competition and wants to go on the title, his first with his National Side.

In group F, Germany looks clear favourites to be the winner. There is some stiff competition for another team to progress to the next round with Mexico and Sweden both having equal-weighted, that makes this group fixture more interesting. Also, this fixture will be last game unless they progress to the next round of the competition and the decider for the 2nd position in this group. This is undoubtedly the fixture to watch out for.

6. Germany Vs Sweden

Both the teams want to win the game and make their position strong to progress further in the competition. The cup holders still have upper hand in the fixture and will be playing their final group fixture against South Korea, which gives world champions some space of breathing whereas, on the other side, Sweden will be playing Mexico in the last group fixtures which provides them with some tough job to do.

5. Poland Vs Colombia

Both the Bayern Munich boys Robert Lewandowski and James Rodriguez will be against each other to take their team to the next stage of the competition. James Rodriguez won the golden boot in 2014 Football World Cup and played a major role for his side to take them till quarter-final where they lost against Brazil.

He will be desperate to repeat the performance whereas on the other hand Robert Lewandowski, the Goal machine will hope to continue his qualifier form for his team in the World Cup as well.
