Most of you haven’t heard the name of Cecil Wright, He in the cricket had the longest career which will be pretty impossible to beat. He played along with West Indies greats Viv Richards, Gary Sobers and Frank Worrell.
At the age of 85, the fast bowler also known as ‘Cec’ will retire in two weeks time.

As per reports, Wright has grabbed 7000 wickets in his long career. He also took 538 wickets, in five seasons at a very impressive average one every 27 balls.
Cecil Wright who in his prime represented Jamaica and debut against Barbados. Wright made his test debut in against Australia in Ashes when he was 49-Year-Old. In his 60-Year career span, he is said to be played an estimate of 2 million matches.
Wright will play the last match of his career on Saturday, September 7th at home for Uppermill Cricket Club against Springhead.
Wright in an interview to The Daily Mirror said:
“I wish I knew the reason for my longevity, but I couldn’t tell you what it is. To be honest, I eat anything that’s going but I don’t drink much, just the odd beer. I keep fit, although these days I use my age as an excuse to miss training, I find keeping active helps to ease aches and pains. I don’t like to sit still and watch TV, I would rather have a walk or potter about in the garage”
