This cost him his ministerial post. He had to resign after three days of taking the oath. He faced corruption charges by the opposition as well. An old clip of him singing the national anthem wrongly surfaced on the microblogging site as well.

In the video, Mewalal Choudhary is heard singing the national anthem as, “Punjab Vasant Gujarat Maratha” while he should have sung, “Punjab Sindh Gujarat Maratha”. The video soon went viral and is flooded with the reaction on social media.
