Technology has given has a huge advantage but it certainly has a number of disadvantages as well. The online world has become so much venerable. Cybercrimes are on the high. A 26-year-old youth reportedly stripped for his girlfriend during a video call. And ended up losing ₹22,000.
The culprit threatens to leak the nude video if the victim did not pay up. The incident is of Bengaluru.
The victim told Whitefield police he became friends with a girl on WhatsApp last month. The girl said she hailed from Kerala and works in a call center in the city.
The victim used to live alone as a paying guest left for home after the coronavirus outbreak. The victim said, that the girl liked his boldness and wishes to chat on ‘hot topics’ over the phone.
“During a chat last week, the girl told me that she wanted to see me naked. Initially, I refused but she said she would also strip after I remove my clothing,” the victim told police.
After her demand, the boy removed his clothes during the video call. However, the girl disconnected the call after a while.
And since then the girl’s phone is switched off. Later, on Sunday, the man received a call from an unknown number and claimed that he has a nude video of the video call and will upload it on the internet.
The unidentified man asked him a pay ₹50,000 if he wants his video to get deleted and not to be uploaded on the internet. After some haggling, the victim agreed to pay ₹20,000 online. But the victim again got a call on Monday demanding more money.
Realizing that he was being blackmailed, the man decided to approach the police and file a complaint.
