Government Medical College in Amritsar, Punjab has banned the wearing of skirts, t-shirts, jeans and shorts of girls in the campus. According to the circular issued by the college’s Principal Sujata Sharma, boys in the college campus have been asked to wear the formal pants instead of the jeans.
The new dress code will come into effect from October 1.
According to this circular, all Head of Departments has been asked to ensure that the students of the college follow this.

However, this order of the principal has started to protest in the college. College students say that it is not ok to impose any kind of dress code on them. A group of students, led by student leader Manasimrat Singh, met the college principal and urged them to withdraw the circular. Students said that the principal refused to withdraw it.
