India is lockdown and most of us are sitting at home and are safe. Then there are the frontline workers who are not only risking their lives but also their families too doing their duty 24×7 since the pandemic taking place.
Then comes the people who can be called as illiterate. These people are breaking the lockdown rules and are not cooperating with cops. In fact, in Punjab’s Patiala a group of 4-5 Nihangs has attacked cops when they were stopped.
The incident took place today in the morning. A group of four-five ‘Nihangs’ (Sikhs armed with traditional weapons and dressed in loose blue top) were traveling in a vehicle and they were asked to stop at a vegetable market by the Mandi board officials.
When they were asked curfew passed, they crashed the car into the barricade. They even attached the cops on duty.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, Mandeep Singh Sidhu said.
“They were asked to show (curfew) passes. But they crashed vehicle against the gate and barricades put up there. An ASI’s (Assistant Sub Inspector) hand was chopped off by a sword. A Station House Officer of Sadar Patiala sustained an injury on his elbow and another official suffered an injury on his arm in the attack.”
The injured cops were rushed to the hospital while the ASI is shifted to PGIMER in Chandigarh as he required surgery. The incident took place when the restrictions are in place due to COVID-19.
