India, after two months of lockdown, failed to flatten the coronavirus curve. And the major credit for this goes to a few members who are confidently celebrating whatever occasion comes and to the members who are going out.
In Jharsuguda, Odisha, a shocking incident came in the light where a woman who was in home quarantine throws a birthday party for his son. This party has infected 17 members from the deadly virus.
The woman returned from Gurugram on June 6th with her son and husband. As per the state government orders, the family needs to be in home quarantine for 14 days. The family didn’t even bother to follow it and ended up infecting number of people near locality.
The woman was tested positive on June 15th and the area was declared containment zone by authorities. After she tested positives, authorities started to trace her primary contact. Authorities were left in the state of shock — When they came to know about the birthday party.
They also went to a wedding anniversary in the area. Till date, 17 people linked to a birthday party are already infected after tracing and testing.
Following the incident, the case is registered against two persons by Jharsuguda district administration authorities or organizing the birthday and marriage anniversary functions.
According to Jharsuguda Collector Saroj Kumar Samal, the complaint has been lodged against heads of two families. Complaints are registered under Section 15 of the Disaster Management Act and Sections 296, 271 and 188 of IPC.
The incident came to light on Sunday, the day Odisha saw 304 new cases, the highest single-day spike taking the infection tally to 5,160. India now has approx 4,26,000 COVID-19 cases and the number are increasing rapidly and the future looks scary. A total of 13,706 have already died after infecting the virus.
