West Bengal Woman Sells Her Jewellery And Took Loan Of ₹3 Lakh To Feed Stray Dogs

Dogs can’t speak a word but we all have heard several stories of how much trustworthy a dog can be. Animals can’t utter a word but they have a feeling and as a human, it is not only our responsibility but also our duty to not trouble stray dogs and animals and if possible look after them.

In West Bengal, a 45-year-old Nilanjana Biswas from Kalyani sold jewellery worth ₹2 Lakh and also took a loan of ₹3.3 Lakh to take care of the stray dogs near her locality including food and medical attention.

The TOI quoted her saying,

“I have always loved dogs. I have 13 dogs at home and 12 of them are street dogs. But I realized that I have certain responsibilities towards Stray dogs in the town too. So, I took up the job to look after them myself.”

Nilanjana Biswas, who is a homemaker has a kitchen and a refrigerator dedicated to the dogs and keeps their food item separately. She has appointed three other people to help her and they roam in the town to feed dogs. Their team also take care of vaccinations.

Her Husband and neighbour are against it but her children support her in the noble cause. The homemaker is a diabetic and heart patient and has urged the Kalyani Municipality that the dogs be fed regularly in her absence.

“We first place a few plastic utensils along roads. Then, we pour chicken and rice in the utensils and water in separate ones. We clean the area and utensils after feeding the animals.”
