Orkut is the very first social media platform owned by Google launched in 2004. The social media platform was pretty popular among teenagers and was used to communicate and make new friends. Orkut was one of the most visited websites in India and Brazil in 2008.
Orkut was shut down on September 30, 2014. The reason given behind the shut down was the growth of Facebook, YouTube, Google+ and Blogger.
The platform is still close to many 90s kids as their first social media service. Today, on Twitter Orkut was trending and netizens refreshed their old memories. Some reacted with memes while some of their experience.
