MP Man Gets Married With Girlfriend And Bride Chosen By Parents In Same ‘Mandap’

In the bizarre marriage that took place on Wednesday in Madhya Pradesh, a man married two women at the same time in the same mandap on Wednesday. The incident happened in Keria village under Ghodadongri block, about 40 km from Betul district headquarters.

The villagers attended the marriage and all the three families involved were also present followed by all the rituals. Sandeep Uike, who hails from Betul in Madhya Pradesh, married the two women at in the same ceremony.

One of his brides is from Hoshangabad district, the other woman is from Koyalari village of Ghodadongri block.

When he was studying in Bhopal, he met a girl from Hoshangabad district and got attracted to each other and started dating. While Uike’s family found a girl of their choice for his marriage. This started the dispute and families involved approached Panchayat.

Panchayat decided that if both girls agree to live together he should get married to both of them. The women agreed to this. Then the wedding ceremony was held in Keria village. Uike solemnised the marriage by taking ‘Saath Pheras’ around the sacred fire with both the brides.

Mishrilal Parate, vice-president of Janpad Panchayat Ghodadongri and a witness to the marriage, said that the three families had no objection to the wedding and themselves decided to go ahead with it, IANS reported.

Uike is now married to two women. The district administration is inquiring into the matter. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, it is necessary to take permission to for gathering.

However, Ghodadongri Tehsildar Monika Vishwakarma said no such permission for marriage was sought nor was any given. She said she is sending an official to investigate the matter.
