Roger Federer Has Only Good Things To Say About Sumit Nagal, As India Admire His Spirit

Sumit Nagal a few days haven’t thought of playing the US Open. Youngster hard work and destiny has some other plans. Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal got his Grand Slam debut against Roger Federer in the largest stadium of the world Arthur Ashe Stadium which many players can only dream of.

India wake-up to the excitement of a young star playing RF in a jam-packed stadium and he didn’t disappoint. Sumit lost but not without giving a Roger a fight and winning a set. Nagal won 1st set and gave Federer a scare which he survives by winning the next three sets.

Sumit Nagal didn’t get entry to play Maharashtra Open qualifiers and here he is. Sumit Nagal becomes first Indian to win a set against Roger Federer. The tennis star now became a hero and will a star in the country.

Roger Federer in the post-match interview praised Indian star. He predicted a very solid career for him and how he handled the situation impressed Roger the most.

Federer after the match said:

“I think he knows what he can bring. That’s why I think he’s going to have a very solid career. But, of course, it’s not the game that comes out with the biggest surprises. It’s really consistent. I think he did it very well tonight. I guess maybe how he handled the moment.”

Sumit Nagal’s father while speaking to Hindustan Times said we are very happy with Sumit’s performance. This will inspire youngsters to pursue the sport.

“Winning the first set against such a great player, Federer, the God of tennis… it was completely unexpected. We will welcome Sumit back like a winner. He played so well at a Grand Slam event. The entire nation was watching him. Everyone congratulate me on his performance.”
