We are blessed to be in an era where we can see Lionel Messi alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. However there is a long debate going on the superiority of the two but, on can not neglect the fact that both these are Legends.
From Maradona to Pele from Journalist to pundits and all the current players are divided in this battle, but Pele — considered as one of the greatest to play often had praise for Lionel Messi. But, recently in an interview with Folha de S.Paulo.
How can you make a comparison between a guy who heads the ball well, shoots with the left, shoots with the right, and another who only shoots with one leg, only has one skill, doesn’t head the ball well?
He went on saying, How can you compare.? To compare with Pele. Messi should be able to shoot with both feet and even scores header. He also included Maradona in the conversation saying was Maradona better than Messi.? He said — Yes by far much.
The criticism of Pele for Messi came as a shock to many of them as he was the one who used to praised Barca’s No. 10 on multiple occasions. On 17 February 2016 Pele said; “I like Messi a lot. He’s a great player. Technically, we’re practically at the same level.”
After Pele comment about Lionel in the recent interview, the football worlds is split into two with Pele on the receiving end.

After the midweek comment by the Brazilian, the majority from football world came in support of Lionel and Messi didn’t disappoint them. Barcelona was due to play a derby against Espanyol. Lionel was by far the best player in the game and his fans gave back to Pele.
While there is no doubt that Maradona, Pele sits on the list of greatest player in the world. But, Lionel Messi to deserve the place there which is for sure.
Messi’s performance against Espanyol will also prove the point if it’s not already proved. Literally, Lionel Messi destroyed Espanyol in the Catalan derby. He was at its very best. Messi scored two superb free-kick and this was the first time he had done so. He even assisted Dembele which gave Barca 2-0 lead in the derby. Pele’s comment might have come at the worst time possible.
