Mithali Raj of the Indian women’s cricket team was eliminated from the recently concluded Women’s World T20 semi-finals. The issue had been going on since then every new day a new twist is coming out. Latest is Mithali Raj had written a letter to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and lashed out Ramesh Powar and Diana Edulji.
Mithali Raj was out of the Semi Final despite scoring back to back 50 in the first two games which raised several questions. Indian women showed a great game in the entire tournament, but only a step away from final, India lost the game. The main reason for this is keeping Mithali Raj out of the team who was in form.
Mithali Raj’s manager made severe allegations on Harmanpreet through a tweet and called him ‘immature’, ‘false’. The tweets were posted from an unverified account. However, later, when asked about this from Anisha, he remained on his statement. Tweet deleted after a few hours. Mithali Raj also got support from legendary fast bowler Jhulan Goswami.
You are raising many questions on the expulsion of Mithali Raj. Before sitting out due to a knee injury in the final league match against Australia, Mithali had scored two half-centuries in consecutive innings. After toss in the semi-final match against England, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that the team wants to play with the same winning combination, who had defeated Australia.
Now for the first time in the whole case, Mithali Raj broke his silence. On Tuesday, he accused the team coach and former Indian cricketer Ramesh Pawar of insulting him.
Mithali also made sensational allegations on BCCI administrator’s committee Diana Idulji. Diana was discriminated against by this experienced player of Indian women’s cricket team. They wanted to ruin them.
My issues with the coach (Ramesh Powar) started immediately after we landed in the West Indies. At first, there were small signs that his behaviour towards me was unfair and discriminatory, but I did not bother much about it. I didn’t exist in the team. If I was around, he would immediately move away from the scene. If I looked to wish him, he would deliberately start looking in other direction.
Treating, a legend like Mithali Raj, is not a way. Whatever excuse is made are not acceptable. She has been the leading run-getter in the Women’s cricket. Apart from them She is leading run scorer in India in the T20 International leaving Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma behind her. She achieved the feet in the recently concluded World T20.
