England who scored just 67 in the first inning and were trail by 112 runs. Australia in the second innings scored 246 which gave England 359 runs target. The target which was never achieved before.
England had lost the game multiple times in the match but Ben was the one who didn’t lose it. In the end, it all came down to England’s World Cup hero and he didn’t disappoint.
Stokes and Jack Leach combined and scored 76 of 62 balls in which Leach socred 1, the penultimate run. It was Australia who took the last review desperately and lost the match. In the next over after the review, Ben was out but was given not out on the field and that review came back to hurt Australia and cost them the test match.
But nevertheless, not to take anything away from Benjamin Andrew Stokes. England’s summer hero. First, the World Cup and then must-win game.
