In this current generation WhatsApp is the fastest means of spreading news — either be fake or genuine news. Telecommunication has lots of benefits, but that doesn’t come without disadvantage.
In this online age, communicating is super easy but, people around often misuse it by harassing and abusing specially females. There are multiple case of not just girls but even guys getting harassed receiving rape threats, death threats, and offensive content. For some of the people this has became a common practice.
Although, blocking is an option to prevents all these but, it is only a temporary solution. These activities can only be stopped after being punished.
Now, a WhatsApp user can register a complaint to Department of Telecom (DoT) against offensive messages.
This move is taken by WhatsApp due to the everyday increase of abuses and threats against journalists.
The victim is required to furnish a screenshot of the message along with the mobile number and e-mail it to ccaddn-dot@nic.in.
“If anyone is receiving abusive/offensive/death threats/ vulgar WhatsApp messages, please send screenshots of the message along with the mobile numbers at ccaddn-dot@nic.in”, DoT Controller Communications Ashish Joshi tweeted. “We will take it up with the telecom operators and police heads for necessary action”, he added.
