The 2018 apart from many will be remembered as the name changing year — Allahabad to Prayagraj. On Diwali, Faizabad district was renamed to Ayodhya. A day before Agra to Agravan was demanded by local MLA from BJP. Now the Maratha groups call for Pune to renamed as Jijapur. It looks like this trend is picking up.
Maratha group ‘Sambhaji Brigade’ have demanded Pune to renamed as Jijapur’. Apart from this they are also in support of Shiv Sena’s proposal of changing the names of Aurangabad and Osmanabad to Sambhaji Nagar and Dharashiv.
Reported by Pune Mirror — brigade has issued a letter to Government and demanded immediate action on it.
Pune was looted by Bijapur Adilshah’s generals in 1630 AD due to which, not a single person was ready to stay here out of fear. In this case “Jijamata’s contribution cannot be forgotten as it is relevant to Pune’s modernisation,” Shinde added.
He further added to clarify his statement that Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis believes that the government has established with the blessings of Chhatrapati Shivaji.
“We hope there will be no protest over this proposal as the government and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis themselves claim that the government has been established with the blessings of Chhatrapati Shivaji.”
A meeting with Pune district collector Naval Kishore Ram has fixed on Monday where the brigade plans to submit their official proposal of changing the name of Pune.
Change all the names in single stroke including Delhi to Hastinapur and designation of President to Dhritrashtra and PM to Duryodhan…
