Working longer doesn’t mean more productivity. Microsoft Japan has proved it. Let’s admit this, Friday is a working day but we do everything but work. On Friday, the weekend mood is on. Microsoft Japan came up with 4 days working.
In Japan, a quarter of Japanese companies require their employees to work 80 hours of overtime in a month. To address this overwork culture, the company came up with an experiment. In August, they gave 2,300 employees, 3 days weekend for 5 weeks straight. The hope behind it was employees on Monday return feeling more refreshed.
Even with 3 days weekend, 40% improvement in productivity, Microsoft Japan announced.
