A case of mass-cheating came in light from Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) where officials find 959 general stream students of Class XII been involved.

According to the Times of India, the students wrote the exact answers for the same questions, in the same sequence, and even everyone made the same mistakes.

The incident took place despite the strict measures have taken to check mass copying. The results of all students will be withheld till 2020 and are failed in the subject in which they have allegedly cheated.

This by far is the single largest instance of mass copying in Gujrat board’s recent history.

The subjects in which mass copying took place included Accounting, Economics, English Literature, and Statistics.

After receiving complaints officials closely combed through the answer sheets of exam centres from where complaints were reported. These centres were mainly in Junagadh and Gir-Somnath districts.

At one of these centres, as many as 200 students wrote the essay Dikri Ghar Ni Divdi (daughter is earthen lamp of the family) in the exact same way from beginning to end.

“Many candidates paid annual fees of about Rs 35,000 to the self-financed schools here however they were shown as ‘regular’ students. The students claimed that they attended classes for only about two weeks.”

Some students told the investigating committee that teachers at the exam centres dictated answers.
