Dehradun School denied admission to a 16-year-old stating couldn’t give admission to the rape survivor — Lawyer of rape survivor said. The lawyer wrote a letter demanding cancellation of the school’s CBSE affiliation.
Hindustan Times reported Advocate Aruna Negi Chauhan wrote a letter on behalf of the minor’s parents to the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and state education minister Arvind Pandey, urging them to take “strict legal action” against the school.
The Lawyer further said Parents of the girl tried to get her admission in several schools, but all of them refused without giving any explanation. One of the private school told they could not provide admission to rave survivor.
The girl who previously was at the boarding school in Dehradun where 4 other students raped her. School authorities told not to talk about then incident. Principal threatened her to throw her out of the school. She got pregnant, and the matter came into light.
Advocate Chauhan has written to senior superintendent of Uttarakhand police as well. Advocate demanded an investigation into how the girl’s identity was revealed.
“The biggest question is that how did the school get to know the child was a rape victim? By law, her identity has to be protected. We want the police to investigate who is behind this,” she said.
