#MeToo India: Director Sajid Khan Suspended For One Year From IFTDA

After some big names were out in #MeToo India movement, the phase of action might have begun. Recently MJ Akbar is suspended from Editors Guide Of India, and now Director Sajid Khan is suspended for one year from Indian Film & TV Directors’ Association.

Saloni Chopra, Rachel White, Simran Suri and journalist Karishma Upadhyay, were among those who accused Mr Khan of inappropriate behaviour.

IFTDA in there statement said that the committee investigated the matter somewhat. There are serious allegations of sexual harassment, unwelcome sexually determined behaviour, unwanted contact by poking and advances, demands for sexual favours and abuse of power by Sajid Khan.

Sajid was given the opportunity to put forth his defence. He did not provide any explanation. Mr Sajid Khan did not accept the sexual molestation of the complainants but admitted that his behaviours and language was impolite, used abusive language with his friends. He acknowledged that he had sexual relations with girls, but with there consent.

The serious allegation was made against the director two months ago. After multiple charges came against him, Akshay Kumar cancelled the shoot of there ongoing movie Housefull 4 which Sajid was directing. Later he was removed from the film.

Bipasha Basu also said that his disrespectful behaviour stopped her from working with him.

IFTDA said they would review after year whether to continue the suspension or allow Sajid Khan to work.
