Recently, Hindustan Unilever decided to drop the word ‘fair’ from there extremely popular fairness cream Fair and Lovely. Now, following HUL steps another company L’Oreal has decided to drops words such as ‘Fair’ and ‘Light’ from its skincare products.
They say late than never and these are welcome steps by both HUL and L’Oreal. Although we all are getting there. L’Oreal is the world’s largest cosmetics company and has decided to remove words referencing “white”, “fair” and “light” from its skin-evening products.
A L’Oreal Group spokesperson said the company acknowledged the legitimate concerns about the words used to describe its skin-evening products, reports Business Standard. “We have, therefore, decided to remove the words,” the spokesperson added.
Unilever and L’Oreal are two big companies in the global market. The companies stopped selling these products in the American market. But, has captured a huge market in Asian and African countries.
L’oreal literally sells skin whitening products around the world. A cosmetic company like this should be one of the last to comment on racism.

can we please talk about how brands like loreal, olay, nivea, etc. stopped selling skin whitening products in america but not in the middle east& other regions?? colourism should be unacceptable WORLDWIDE not just in one region.
