Doordarshan was the sole entertainment channel back in days and few shows still have a special place in our hearts. And not just shows, its logo which have taken minor changes over the years is also irreplaceable.
It was designed by Devashis Bhattacharyya and appeared for the first time on television screens on April 1, 1976.
The old iconic Doordarshan logo is getting a revamp and looking at those new shortlisted logos, the old one looks best.

In 2017, Doordarshan announced a logo design contest, which received over 10,000 entries. And now out of those entries, Doordarshan has shortlisted 5 logos to proceed further.
Twitter expressed their disappointment as the old logo looks much better and is connected closely as well.
Fire the selection committee . This is worse than clipart!

Grab opportunity by showing web series type content and disrupt the private tv which is in their worst phase ever (content-wise)— Chowkidar Ajoobaa (@DeshKaPande) May 20, 2019
Any junior artist in our graphic set up would have done better. Hate this competition business. Which self respecting professional will submit for a competition? Which is why this is the outcome.

i guess the designer wants to seal the final nail in DD’s coffin! Please pay a good designer and get the job done! All the logos were stolen from internet!

Yuck. Looks like some govt employees designed these out of sheer frustration. Please reject all of them.
