India’s largest mobile carrier Reliance Jio today announced that they will charge 6 paise per minute to all the outgoing calls to other networks from 10th Oct. This is the first time Jio will charge since its existence.
The change will be effective once your current plan expires. Till then everything will be the same as it is to date.
To compensate the money, Jio will collect from its user they are giving free data. For every ₹10 spent, you will be credited 1 GB data in your account. However, the company clarifies that the IUC charges will only be applicable till the TRAI makes it zero.
The other issue here is TRAI has proposed to make IUC charges zero from 2020 but, other operators objected and then TRAI is set to review it which made the company to make a move.
