A few days ago South African comedian Trevor Noah received a lot of criticism on his poor joke made on India-Pakistan war-like situation. He on air went on saying that a war between the two countries will be most entertaining. Trevor Noah even fun of Indian soldiers and said this would be the longest war of all time due to another dance number.
The video went viral and he received all-round criticism for his joke. Not just from both the countries but, even from people around the world as well.
After facing heavy criticism comedian on Twitter makes his point and reminded an old incident about making a joke on his mother who was shot in the head.
Actually if you watch my stand up you’ll see that I did make jokes after my mother was shot in the head. As a comedian I use comedy to process pain and discomfort in my world but I am sorry that this hurt you and others, that’s not what I was trying to do

In another tweet Trevor Noah mentioned about getting more importance to his offended joke rather than the actual conflict.
It’s amazing to me that my joke about the conflict in India and Pakistan trended more than the story of the actual conflict itself. Sometimes it seems like people are more offended by the jokes comedians make about an issue than the issue itself.

However, Twitter has difference in opinions.
Mate, your racist joke was criticised by a small section of people on social media. Don’t be under the impression that it mattered more than the conflict itself. Most people don’t even know you here. People have lost lives.

This is a seriously shitty take. Also factually incorrect. In the nations that were involved in potential conflict, the soldiers trended far more than your “joke”. It’s surprising to see that racist stereotypes aren’t a problem for you when it comes to other cultures.

Not cool for someone to “mention” his mother being shot in the head
BUT cool for someone to joke about soldiers of a country, one doesn’t belong to, being shot while at war and that being entertaining cause they sing & dance while in combat.

if people are going to watch comedy they need to get used to being offended. i’m not saying prejudice is okay, but you’ve made jokes about iran, where my parents are from, and i wasn’t offended because it’s for the sake of the laugh. comedy is how we deal with pain. 💕
